FOLLOWING Gary Anderson's win over Phil Taylor in the final of the Bullit World Darts Trophy, two players will now win places in the PartyBets.com Grand Slam of Darts through the ITV Wildcard Qualifier.
The finalists of the WDT were due to receive invitations to compete in November's inaugural, £300,000 tournament in Wolverhampton.
However, both Taylor and Anderson had already qualified as World Champion and International Darts League winner respectively, meaning that there would be no new additions to the Grand Slam of Darts field from the event.
The ITV Wildcard Qualifier is open to ANY darts player and will be held on Sunday 30 September at the Aldersley Leisure Village, Wolverhampton.
The knockout tournament will now see the final two players qualify to compete at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall in November, with first round losers guaranteed £4,000 and the winner taking home £80,000.
"There has already been a surge of interest in the ITV Wildcard Qualifier and this decision means that another player has the chance to live the dream and share a stage with the world's top players," said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.
"The ITV Wildcard Qualifier will be a hugely exciting day for the sport, with players from across the darting spectrum competing; top stars who have yet to qualify joined by ambitious pub players under one roof."
Entry to the ITV Wildcard Qualifier costs £25 and can be made through calling 08712 501 180 or by visiting the PDC Online Entry System at www.planetdarts.tv.
