The first round of the 2005 Sky Bet World Grand Prix was completed with eight matches at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin on Tuesday.
Five-time World Grand Prix champion Phil Taylor opened his campaign with a defeat of Irish qualifier Joe Collins, and the other top seeds avoided defeat.
Ronnie Baxter, Peter Manley and Kevin Painter all came through their opening games unscathed, while Mark Dudbridge impressed in his win over Dave Askew.
