RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD, Steve Beaton, Alan Green and Andy Callaby won places in the 2006 SkyBet World Grand Prix at the PDPA Qualifiers in Newport on Friday.
The quartet came through a 127-man field at the Newport Centre to earn a place at the Citywest Hotel next month.
Van Barneveld (pictured) bounced back from missing out on the Stan James World Matchplay in July by defeating the man who knocked him out of the qualifiers for that event - Andy Hamilton - in his final game.
The Dutchman had earlier stared defeat in the face against Paul Whitworth, who missed four darts at double 19 to knock out the four-time World Champion.
Steve Beaton, another player with World Champion pedigree, showed his class to overcome rising star Colin Osborne in his final game.
Beaton was forced to come from 4-0 down in his opening game against Dale Newton, also also knocked out Simon Whatley, Gary Noonan and Darren Webster to seal a place in the World Grand Prix.
Callaby ensured his return to the Citywest Hotel - the scene of his famous win over Phil Taylor two years ago on his way to the quarters - by seeing off Steve Johnson in his decider.
Merseysider Green ended Gary Welding's hopes of a third successive World Grand Prix appearance with a 5-2 win in their final clash.
Holland's Jan van der Rassel almost landed a perfect nine-dart finish - which would have been spectacular given the double-start nature of the tournament - but he missed the bullseye with his final dart during his defeat to Osborne.
American John Kuczynski was a semi-final loser to Hamilton, while veteran Scot Jamie Harvey also reached the last 16 on the night before going down in a deciding leg to Steve Johnson.
