THE eight players taking part in this year's Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts will be releasing an album featuring their own covers of famous Madness and Bruce Springsteen hits as well as their own now famous walk-on music, it was announced on Thursday morning (April 1 2010).
The first track, a cover of Madness' 'My Girl' from the 'One Set Beyond' album will be premiered at tonight's Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts event at the CIA in Cardiff.
The decision to go into the recording studio came after the huge popularity of a series of music themed t-shirts that have been sold at all the 2010 Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts venues.
The t-shirts, raising money for the Everyman Male Cancer Campaign, show the players giving their own interpretations of classic music imagery such as Madness' classic 'One Step Beyond' pose and Phil 'The Power' Taylor re-creating Bruce Springsteen's 'Born in the USA' album cover.
Four-time Whyte & Mackay Premier League champion Phil Taylor said: "We had a lot of fun in the recording studio and it was a bit of a childhood ambition fulfilled for a lot of the guys to be rock stars for the day.
"Some players have obviously been blessed with vocal talent more than others and I don't think there will be many putting down their flights and picking up a mic full-time anytime soon!"
