JAMIE HARVEY is recovering in hospital after having surgery for throat cancer.
The Scot was recently diagnosed with throat cancer, and underwent surgery on Wednesday (September 2) to remove a cancerous growth and his voice box.
He is now recovering in hospital in Paisley, and will require further radiotherapy treatment in the coming months.
Harvey was a founder member of the original WDC in the early 1990s and reached the semi-finals of both the World Championship and World Matchplay in 1996.
He last competed on the televised stage at the 2008 Blue Square UK Open, where he was the victim of a nine-darter from Phil Taylor.
His most recent appearance on the PDC Pro Tour came in Irvine in March 2009, when he played in the Scottish Players Championship and UK Open Scottish Regional Final.
"Jamie has always been a popular player and great character and we wish him a successful recovery," said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.
