MICHAEL VAN GERWEN won the non-ranked Gleneagle Irish Masters in a final-leg thriller against Kevin McDine on Saturday.
The Dutchman produced a superb finale to the decider to claim the 5,000 euro title.
At 5-4 down, he took out 146 to stay in the game, before checking out 73 in the deciding leg with McDine waiting on double top.
Van Gerwen could have exited the tournament in the semi-finals, with Irish ace Shane O'Connor - who has qualified for the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship - missing six darts to defeat the Dutchman.
He also came from 4-1 down to win 5-4 against Mark Dudbridge in the quarter-finals of the event at Ireland's National Event Centre.
McDine edged out Jamie Caven in the semi-finals, and also overcame Damien O'Driscoll and Jimmy Leahy in the latter stages.
