JAMES WADE begins the defence of his Stan James World Matchplay title tonight gunning for a chance to face off with Phil Taylor in Saturday's final.
The world number three lost to Taylor in the Blackpool final two years ago before claiming his first major title in the event last July.
But he has lost twice more to Taylor major finals this year, at the Premier League and Las Vegas Desert Classic, and is aiming to avenge those in the World Matchplay.
"I've not beaten Phil in a major final yet but I'd love to be facing him in the final on Sunday," said Wade.
"He's thoroughly deserved his wins against me, but I've prepared well for the World Matchplay and it would be great to take him on."
Wade meets Wayne Jones in the first round at Blackpool, and added: "I've never been introduced as the reigning champion before so it will be special for me, and a great honour.
"But I have to keep my mind on the job because Wayne's a good player and he is capable of beating me if I don't perform."
