SIMON WHITLOCK will secure his place in the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship this weekend.
The Queenslander will compete in the final two events on the Australian Grand Prix circuit in the Mildura Working Men's Club Open on Saturday and Sunday.
Depending on his results, with $1,000 on offer for each day's winner, he could jump above Paul Nicholson to finish at the top of the AGP Order of Merit.
However, with Nicholson's win in the Australian Open Players Championship seeing him effectively seal a World Championship spot through the Players Championship Order of Merit, Whitlock will be the DPA's first qualifier for Alexandra Palace.
Whitlock has dominated the AGP circuit since joining the DPA earlier this year, winning a string of tournaments to pull clear of the likes of Shane Tichowitsch, Brian Roach and Steve Macarthur in the Order of Merit.
A further place in the World Championship for antipodean players is on offer for the Oceanic Masters winner, with that event taking place from October 23-25 in Auckland.
Following the Mildura double-header, Whitlock will be based in the UK during November and December, where he is due to compete in the PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts and German Darts Championship ahead of the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship.
Tickets for the 2010 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship are now on general sale, with prices starting at £15.
