SIMON WHITLOCK has picked up victory in Saturday's Unanderra Hotel Open, whitewashing Barry Jouannet in the final.
Whitlock claimed his second Australian Grand Prix title of the year with the triumph, as he warmed up in style for the start of the Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts on Thursday.
Having qualified through his group to reach the last 16, Whitlock was in devastating form, failing to drop a leg in wins over Daniel Sim and Dave Muller.
Rob Modra took three legs from Whitlock in a semi-final loss, before the pony-tailed star stormed past Jouannet in style to take the title.
Left-hander Jouannet knocked out Russell Stewart 6-3 in the semis, having also seen off Phil Bottrell and Simon Latchum in the knockout phase.
Rod Crawford and Brendon McCausland also reached the quarter-finals, while Wayne Weening qualified for the last 16 on his return to the DPA circuit.
Whitlock will also compete in Sunday's Australian Singles tournament in Underarra before returning to the UK for the Premier League's opener, when he takes on Phil Taylor in a rematch of the Ladbrokes.cmo World Darts Championship.
