PDC star Devon Petersen has been hailed as "inspiring" following his recent support for the UTD Against Racism event.
UTD Against Racism saw esports channel LDN UTD link up with the Rio Ferdinand Foundation for a second year to create an online event featuring celebrities and gamers.
The three-hour Twitch live stream, seen by over 30,000 unique viewers, featured a FIFA community v celebrity tournament as well as highlighting that sport and popular culture can empower young people to challenge racism and create real change in communities.
South African star Petersen joined former footballer Brian Deane, YouTuber Kirbz, singer Heather Small and actor Colin Salmon amongst the celebrities supporting the event.
"Having Devon involved in the recent UTD Against Racism event provided a fascinating perspective," said Oliver Weingarten, Founder & CEO of LDN UTD.
"Hearing about his struggles having grown up during apartheid to become such a successful sports athlete was not only fascinating but extremely inspiring. The feedback from the viewers on the Twitch chat endorsed this."
Speaking during the event, Petersen said: "Hopefully what we say resonates with a lot of people. Darts has expanded and now has become a global game.
"You've got players coming from different countries and making their home in the UK, which is the epicentre of professional darts. I look back now and realise how blessed my journey was.
"It's going to be hard to remove all racism from society itself, but I think that the generations from here will have a different viewpoint of race and the importance of being a kind human being."
The PDC and Matchroom have linked up with LDN UTD - the esports organisation using gaming and esports to promote healthy lifestyles and address social issues - to create "Matchroom Mondays" which will feature stars joining esports players.
The latest collaboration has seen Matthew Edgar taking on professional FIFA player Adam Ryan in a game of Ultimate Team - with a darts twist!
