Gibraltar Darts Trophy Draw & Schedule

JAMES WADE will begin his defence of the Gibraltar Darts Trophy against either Cristo Reyes or Mark Webster on Saturday, while World Champion Gary Anderson takes on Devon Petersen or Kurt Parry in the PDC European Tour event at the Victoria Stadium.

The £115,000 tournament kicks off on Friday as the 32 qualifiers face off across two sessions, with the field completed when four Gibraltarian players sealed their spots in the event through Thursday's Host Nation Qualifier.

The stars in action on Friday include former PDC major winner Kevin Painter, former Lakeside Champions Mark Webster and Jelle Klaasen and former European Tour winner Wes Newton, who takes on Benito van de Pas.

Painter takes on Austrian youngster Rowby-John Rodriguez, with Webster facing Spanish newcomer Cristo Reyes, while Klaasen plays Northern Ireland's Daryl Gurney.

The cosmopolitan line-up will also see South Africa's Devon Petersen playing Welsh youngster Kurt Parry and Belgian youngster Dimitri Van den Bergh facing Dirk van Duijvenbode, who is joined by fellow Dutchmen van de Pas, Klaasen and Mike Zuydwijk.

2013 Gibraltar Darts Trophy runner-up Jamie Lewis, who lost out to Phil Taylor in his first PDC final, will play Brett Claydon in his first round tie.

Welsh ace Gerwyn Price and England's Brian Woods will meet Host Nation Qualifier Dylan Duo and Manuel Vilerio respectively, while the draw also pitted two other Gibraltarians together for a first round tie on Friday night as policeman Antony Lopez plays debutant John Duo.

The 16 seeded players come into the fray in Saturday's second round, with world number one van Gerwen beginning his bid to win a second successive European Tour event against either Rodriguez or Painter.

2014 Gibraltar Darts Trophy runner-up Steve Beaton takes on Woods or Vilerio, while Betway Premier League stars Peter Wright and Stephen Bunting also come into the action in round two.
