Whitworth Heads Five Rileys Qualifiers

PAUL WHITWORTH was amongst the five Rileys Amateur Qualifiers for the Coral UK Open on the third weekend of knockouts being held in Rileys Sports Bars during February.

Former World Matchplay qualifier Whitworth, 44, will compete in his eighth UK Open after qualifying for a fifth successive year as an amateur when he edged out Paul Cartwright 4-3 to win the Rileys Chorlton Qualifier on Sunday.

The Prestwich publican was joined in winning through to compete in the Coral UK Open Televised Finals from March 7-9 at the Butlins Minehead Resort by four other players over the weekend.

Scott Bennett, a 41-year-old from Lincoln, won through the Rileys Hull Qualifier, while Warwickshire's William Naylor, 24, was the qualifier from the Rileys Erdington club.

Welsh-born Dean Reynolds, a 21-year-old from Guildford, was the second player to win through from the Rileys London Victoria club, while 32-year-old Adam Cousins was a home-town winner at the Rileys Peterborough knockout.

The final weekend of Rileys Amateur Qualifiers will see ten knockouts staged around the UK on Saturday February 22, with five further events being held on Sunday February 23 to complete the 32 Rileys Qualifiers who will compete in Minehead.

Enrtries can still be made in advance for the final weekend of Rileys Amateur Qualifiers - but time is running out! No entries are taken on the day!

Entry costs £3 if made online through the Rileys website, or £5 if made in person at any of the participating Rileys Sports Bars.

Entry also includes a free drink (or £3 cashback voucher in Scotland) and half-price entry into the Rileys Masters Series III.

The closing date for the receipt of entries is 48 hours prior to each specific event through the Rileys Online Entry System, or 24 hours before each specific event if entering in person at the venue.

NOTE: PDC Tour Card Holders and PDPA Associate Members (who competed at the 2014 PDC Qualifying School) can NOT enter these events and would enter the six UK Open Qualfiiers to be held in Wigan during February.
