Barbero Wins Ally Pally Debut

SPAIN'S Julio Barbero denied Gibraltar's Dylan Duo to be the Iberian Qualifier for the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship.

Barbero will make his World Championship debut at Alexandra Palace next month, after taking a 10-9 win over Duo in the final of the Bull's Super League Darts Iberia event.

Top Gibraltar star Duo had put himself in line to snatch victory in the deciding leg of their final when he left 52, only to see Barbero take out 126 on double six to win the event.

Following the earlier stages of the Bull's Super League Iberia event, the top eight players moved through to compete in the finals, where they were split into two groups of four for the round-robin stage.

The top two from each group then progressed to play in the semi-finals, where Barbero was an 8-5 winner against Gonzalo Padeira and Duo defeated Carlos Jiminez by the same scoreline.

Two Spanish stars who have previously qualified for the World Championship failed to make it out of the round-robin stage, with Antonio Alcinas's defeat to Dylan Duo seeing him miss out on the semi-finals, while Carlos Rodriguez lost all three group games.
