THE Australian Open Players Championship on Sunday will feature 85 players competing for £22,000 prize money.
The third PDC ProTour event to be held in Australia see the two previous champions, Robert Thornton and Paul Nicholson, amongst 13 PDPA members who have travelled to Sydney.
Australian star Simon Whitlock, last weekend's Oceanic Masters winner, Mark Walsh, Mark Webster, Dennis Priestley, Steve Beaton, Tony Eccles, Steve Hine, Richie Burnett, Mark Hylton and Alan Warriner-Little are also in action at the Revesby Workers Club.
Current DartPlayers Australia Order of Merit leader Rob Modra will hope to impress, while Shane Tichowitsch - the runner-up to Whitlock last Sunday - and former Oceanic Masters winners Barry Jouannet and Mitchell Clegg are also in action.
2007 Grand Slam of Darts star Pat Orreal will compete, while New Zealand's Phil Hazell, who played in the 2010 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship, heads the list of participants from across the Tasman Sea, and the field of 81 entrants will be joined by four Qualifiers.
The draw will be made at 11am on the day following the close of registration, and all games will be the best of 11 legs.
