TERRY JENKINS is expecting to face the 'real' Raymond van Barneveld when the pair clash in the Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts in Aberdeen on Thursday.
Van Barneveld has slipped to the foot of the Premier League table recently after winning only two of his 11 games so far this season - with Jenkins' two wins in the past fortnight seeing him jump above the Dutchman.
The five-time World Champion's only win since seeing off reigning Premier League champion James Wade on the opening night came when he averaged almost 107 in defeating Jenkins 8-4 in Manchester in week five.
The pair have battled out a string of high-quality games in recent years in the Premier League, and Jenkins is expecting another tough match at the sold-out AECC in Aberdeen.
"He can always turn it on but I'll be ready for him and expecting it this week," said Jenkins. "He was the real Barney when he played me and hit a 107 average in Manchester.
"That was just my bad luck in a way, but it was one of the game that's made me struggle because it was a big loss for me.
"I've got a couple of wins in the last two weeks and given myself a chance of reaching the play-offs.
"The pressure is on the others to stay in the top four and I can just go up there and throw my darts."
Jenkins revealed that he prepared for last week's 8-4 win over Ronnie Baxter in Liverpool, where he averaged over 98 in what he labelled his best performance of the season, with three days of gardening at a new house he has recently bought.
"I've been doing a lot of hard work outside darts and it benefitted me," revealed Jenkins.
"I didn't pick the darts up from Sunday to Thursday and I needed to do some heavy lifting to tighten my arm up.
"It was my best performance of the season and I felt really confident as well. I needed that one win, which I got against Adrian Lewis the week before, to give me some confidence and that victory helped me a lot.
"It's not all about throwing darts sometimes, it's also about knowing you're confident enough to go up there and throw good darts."
