ROB MODRA has taken over at the top of the DPA rankings after winning both events staged in Young at the weekend.
Modra took victory in both Saturday's and Sunday's events held at the Criterion Hotel in Young, NSW, and has now overtaken Simon Whitlock at the head of the DPA Order of Merit.
Modra was pushed all the way in Saturday's final before eventually defeating Graham Davis in a deciding leg to take the $1,000 title, having earlier defeated Dave Whitmore, Mick Lean and Shane Tichowitsch in the knockout phase.
A day later, he also won in a deciding leg, defeating Craig Prizeman 6-5. He had overcome Shane Haddy, Bill Aitken and Rod Crawford after winning his round-robin board.
A semi-final and quarter-final for Tichowitsch over the weekend strengthened his position in third place, while Brendon McCausland sits fourth in the DPA Order of Merit.
Mitchell Clegg, the 2006 Oceanic Masters champion, has moved up to eighth in the Order of Merit following a strong weekend, as he also reached a quarter-final and a semi-final.
