THE Professional Darts Corporation have revealed the contents of a letter sent to the British Darts Organisation on January 27 2010.
The PDC made an offer in October 2009 to purchase the BDO for £1 million, with a further £1 million to have been invested into amateur darts.
The PDC received a letter from the BDO dated January 21 2010 ahead of a meeting of the BDO Counties, which took place on Sunday January 31, at which the Counties voted by a majority to reject the PDC's offer.
Below is the text of a letter sent by the PDC to BDO Chairman Dave Alderman on Wednesday January 27.
27 January 2010
Dear Mr. Alderman,
Thank you for your letter dated 21 January 2010, following my letter to you of 20 October 2009.
Your letter sets out a number of detailed questions on our proposal to unify the sport of darts by way of the acquisition of the British Darts Organisation (BDO) and its subsidiary companies.
Whilst we are serious about this potential acquisition we do not yet have enough detailed information to answer the majority of these questions at this stage and would suggest the following:-
1. That we should meet with a committee representing your owners, the County Associations, and members of the BDO's Board of Directors in an effort to understand their priorities and in particular their financial needs and
2. we should be allowed to carry out due diligence of the BDO's books and records together with normal management information to ascertain the true worth of the BDO.
Whilst so far our offer has been put to you in general terms, we do understand there is a huge amount of detail that both sides require to move this suggested take over forward.
We are happy to sign any formal confidentiality agreement to enable access to information necessary to be in a position to answer your queries in a clear and forthright manner.
I hope you accept this letter in the spirit in which it is offered and I look forward to being able to answer all your detailed questions once we have the opinions of the County Associations and carried out normal due diligence.
I am happy to meet the County Associations and carry out due diligence at your earliest convenience.
Best regards.
Yours sincerely,
Barry Hearn.
