INVITATIONS to compete in the 2009 Championship League Darts will be issued following the stanjames.com World Matchplay.
The unique tournament features eight eight-player groups doing battle in one-day events televised live on the internet through a series of bookmakers' websites.
The eight groups will be played from September 15-17, September 22-24 and on October 20 and 21, with the Winners Group then being played on October 22.
With over £200,000 in achieveable prize money on offer, the tournament will see the eventual winner and runner-up invited to compete in the 2009 PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts.
All group matches throughout the tournament will be the best of 11 legs, with no draw, with the semi-finals and final also the best of 11 legs.
Two points will be awarded for a win and none for a defeat, with the top four players after the round robin league phase moving into the semi-finals.
Prize money will be awarded at £50 per leg won in the group games, rising to £100 per leg for the semi-finals and final.
Winners Group prize money will be £100 per leg in the group games and £200 per leg in the semi-finals and finals, with additional prize money on offer as follows:
Semi-Final Losers - £2,500 each
Runner-Up - £5,000 plus place in PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts
Winner - £10,000 plus place in PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts
Players will be invited to compete based on the PDC Order of Merit following the stanjames.com World Matchplay, with Group One featuring the top eight available players.
The next three available players from the rankings will come in for Group Two, alongside the players finishing from second-sixth in Group One.
All matches are held behind-closed-doors at Crondon Park GC in Essex, with no public attendance.
Phil Taylor won the inaugural Championship League Darts in 2008, winning Group One and then taking victory in the Winners Group with a 7-5 final victory against Mervyn King.

Group One - Tuesday September 15
Top eight available players (all group invitations based on PDC Order of Merit at 27 July 2009)
Each player plays the others in the league over best-of-11 leg matches in a round-robin format. Two points go to the winner. Once a player reaches six legs, they have won the match and no further legs are played.
At the end of the league phase, the top four move into the play-offs, with semi-finals and then the final played on the day.
Winner progresses to Winners Group.
The losing finalist, losing semi-finalists and players finishing fifth and sixth in the league table progress to Group Two.
Players seven and eight in league table are eliminated and ineligible for future groups.
Group Two - Wednesday September 16
Five players from Group One are joined by the top three available players.
The format is then repeated as per Group One.
