BARRY JOUANNET has claimed his first win on the Australian Grand Prix circuit in two years at the Gaels Club Open in Penrith.
Jouannet, a two-time World Championship qualifier, defeated Jerry Weyman 7-4 in the final to claim valuable AGP ranking points.
He enjoyed a 6-2 win against John Bunyard in the semis, and also dropped just two legs in other wins over Dave Breasley and Shane Tichowitsch.
"I'm over the moon," said Jouannet. "To finally get a win after so long is great.
"I have put alot of time on the board lately and it is starting to pay off. Jerry is one of the legends of NSW darts and it was great to play him in the final.
"I'd like to thank my sponsors, especially Unicorn, that have stood by me - finally I am back on the winners podium!"
Weyman was a 6-3 semi-final winner against Wayne Brown, and overcame Arnel Galvez and Aaron Petty in the knockout stage.
Jouannet had also reached the final of Saturday's event, losing 6-5 to Brian Roach after battling back from 5-2 down to send the game into a decider.
Roach now sits second behind Paul Nicholson in the Australian Grand Prix Order of Merit, with Galvez third, Jouannet fourth, MacArthur fifth and Tichowitsch in sixth.
