PHIL TAYLOR'S achievement in winning a 14th World Championship has been recognised by the Sports Journalists Association.
Taylor was the special guest at the organisation's monthly lunch on London's Fleet Street on Thursday, where he rubbed shoulders with leading journalists, broadcasters and photographers.
Following the lunch, Taylor answered questions about his career, which included his triumph in the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship earlier this month, as well as the sport of darts as a whole.
He also looked ahead to the forthcoming coral.co.uk Players Championship, which begins on Friday at the Circus Tavern.
"It was great to be invited and recognised in this way," said Taylor. "I'm the first darts player to have been guest of honour and it was really enjoyable.
"The next guest is Rebecca Adlington, who won Olympic gold last year, and they often have top rugby players or administrators too so it was a big honour."
