Consistency Important For Mardle

WAYNE MARDLE is hoping to add a consistent streak to his winning run in the Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts.

Mardle has seen his play-off hopes soar with victories over Terry Jenkins and Raymond van Barneveld in the past fortnight, moving him just two points behind the top four.

He meets Peter Manley in a basement battle at the NIA in Birmingham on Thursday, knowing that another victory would further boost his chances of a place in Cardiff at the end of May.

Mardle cites an improvement in hitting his doubles as the key to his recent success, and is keen to maintain that form in Birmingham.

"If doubles go in, I win most of my games," said Mardle. "My scoring is up there with Barney and Phil but I've missed doubles in the past.

"In the past two weeks of the Premier League I've not done that and won, and it can snowball from here.

"If I play as well as I can I will win it, but my trouble is that I'm not as consistent as Raymond and Phil.

"On my day I can be better than them, but I've got to be more consistent."
