The first seven games of the Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts have seen the table become the tightest yet - with greater competition for play-off places than ever before.

At the same stage last year, the four players in the play-off places - Phil Taylor, Dennis Priestley, Terry Jenkins and Raymond van Barneveld - were three points clear of the field, and remained the same going into the semi-finals.

This time around, there are just six points between the entire field, with van Barneveld joined by Wade on ten points.

Taylor's recent surge back to form with three straight wins has moved him up to third on eight points, with Jenkins on seven and Peter Manley and Lewis on six points.

John Part has five points from his first seven games, while a first win for Wayne Mardle in week seven saw him move onto four points - just three behind fourth place.

A more detailed look at the statistics makes interesting reading, with Taylor currently having the highest average for the tournament at 99.06 - which he has lifted from 95.51 after week four, when he was last defeated.

Van Barneveld has the second highest average, at 93.12, while Wade, Part and Jenkins are all above 92.

Taylor is one of three players to have hit a ton-plus average in a match - landing a Premier League record 111.14 in week six against Raymond van Barneveld, which was followed by a 107.39 average last week against John Part.

Part himself averaged 102.74 in that game - the highest losing average so far - while Peter Manley recorded a 102.02 average against Taylor in week four's win in Coventry.

Taylor has also had more ton-plus checkouts than his rivals, hitting nine in total and seven in his last two matches.

Wade has hit the most 180s so far, with 24, and is followed by Taylor and Jenkins (20 each) and Lewis, who has hit 19 maximums.

Interestingly, Peter Manley has hit just four maximums but more 100+ scores than any other player (229).

Taylor has won 17 legs against the throw, equal to van Barneveld and Jenkins, but has played the least number of legs so far with just 80.
