UPDATES regarding the location of the Players Championship in Glasgow, the process for PDC Pro Tour draws and admission to non-televised events.
The PDC will stage a Players Championship at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow on Saturday 19 April.
The new tournament has been added to the Calendar this year, and will be the ninth Players Championship held of 2008.
The PDC are still consulting with the Thistle Hotel before announcing the admission procedure for the general public for this event, and details will be posted on this website once confirmed.
Following consultation with the PDPA, the PDC will be making a change to the date of the draw for Players Championship events and Blue Square UK Open Regional Finals.
The draw will in future be made on the Thursday directly before that weekend's tournaments, rather than immediately following the close of entries around ten days before an event.
This will give players a greater opportunity to inform the PDC if they are unable to attend, which would enable them to receive a refund on their entry fee in cases of genuine withdrawal.
This would also assist to eliminate byes in the draw, which is an issue which has been discussed by the PDC and PDPA.
Players must notify the PDC or the Tournament Director Tommy Cox of any withdrawal before 9.30am on the Thursday, when the draw will be made.
The PDC have also modified the rules for the admission of the general public into PDC Pro Tour events.
Under-11s will now not be granted admission to tournaments, following consultation with the PDPA.
