DART PLAYERS AUSTRALIA are to hold a "Viva Las Vegas" event next February to give one player the chance to win a place in the Las Vegas Desert Classic VII.
The tournament will be held at the Shoalhaven Bowling & Recreation Club from 1-3 February 2008.
The winner will receive a package including flights, accommodation, entry into the Las Vegas Desert Classic VII qualifiers and also 12 month's membership of the PDPA to enable the winner to compete in the Las Vegas Players Championship.
"We are committed in the promotion of Australian Darts and helping support our top level players reach their goal: to play on the PDC international stage," said DPA Chairman Kevin Berlyn.
The DPA introduced a second "major" this year, with the DPA Australian Open joining the long-running Oceanic Masters in the calendar.
The inaugural Australian Open takes place this coming weekend at White Eagle House in Geelong, Victoria - with the winner being rewarded with a place in the PartyBets.com Grand Slam of Darts.
The top 12 players from the Australian Grand Prix standings are seeded into the main event, and they are:
Simon Whitlock, Glen Power, Steve MacArthur, Brian Roach, Peter Corcoran, Barry Jouannet, Paul Cotton, Phil Bottrell, Dave Fitzpatrick, Russell Stewart, Raymond O'Donnell and Shane Haddy.
This year's DPA Oceanic Masters - from which the winner qualifies for the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship - will be held in New Zealand for the first time, on 27 & 28 October.
