SIMON WHITLOCK'S charge towards the Australian Grand Prix title continued with victory on Sunday in the Southern Illawarra event.
Whitlock defeated fellow Queenslander Glenn Power 6-1 in the final to take his latest victory on the AGP circuit, moving himself a step closer to winning a place in the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship.
Whitlock had also had seven perfect darts in the round robin stage, and overcame Jerry Weyman, Raymond O'Donnell and 2005 AGP champion Brian Roach in the latter stages of the event.
Roach's run to the semi-finals ensured him a place in the Australian team which will take on the International Team at the Park Trent Properties William Cross Pro-Am in August.
James Wade has stepped in to join Andy Jenkins, Richie Burnett and John Part in travelling to Sydney for the event.
