RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD edged our John Part 11-10 in the fifth round of the Blue Square UK Open as Phil Taylor hit a nine-dart leg.
Defending UK Open champion van Barneveld enjoyed a classic see-saw battle with the Canadian, with the lead changing hands an incredible eight times.
Van Barneveld prevailed in the deciding leg, with both players landing 180s before the Dutch star took out a 111 finish for victory.
Taylor had earlier landed his third UK Open nine-darter in four years during an 11-5 win over Wes Newton.
The pair shared the first ten legs before Taylor - at 6-5 up - landed seven treble 20s, treble 19 and double 12.
Colin Osborne included a superb 170 finish in his 11-7 victory against Dutch wonderkid Michael van Gerwen.
Essex duo Kevin Painter and Colin Lloyd won through to end the hopes of the Smiths - Steve and Andy - while Steve Hine was an 11-6 victor against Adrian Gray.
Mervyn King's march continued with an 11-5 win over Denis Ovens, and Colin Monk, Darren Webster and Richie Burnett also progressed.
