PLAYERS and spectators at the PartyPoker.net Las Vegas Desert Classic V next week will be able to test the new Wild Bull electronic scoring steel dart game.
The Professional Darts Corporation has officially endorsed the unique game, which is produced by Merlin Technologies and features automatic electronic scoring of steel-tip darts on a bristle dartboard.
Eight of the Wild Bulls games will be available at the Mandalay Bay complex next week to allow players to test the coin-operated system.
Designed to offer an steel-tip alternative to the soft-tip automatic scoring games, the Wild Bull games are also being distributed to Australia and Spain as well as being on offer to leagues, pubs and clubs in America.
"The PDC represents the pinnacle of talent for the sport of darts," said Steve Pope, vice president of Merlin.
"This is an important endorsement and we are excited to have the product in front of important and talented darters at next week's Las Vegas Desert Classic.
"Aside from demonstrating how fun and convenient our machines are, we are looking forward to meeting the competitors at the Desert Classic.
"We hope to entertain players and fans by organising instant challenges, offering prizes and to add to the excitement of the Las Vegas Desert Classic V in any way possible."
He added: "We have begun working with many steel leagues that are already successful without our game. We are not trying to change what they do now, only add to it."
Tim Darby, Chief Executive of the PDC, said: "When I look at countries like Japan and China, which are growth markets for us, I believe their younger players love gadgets and are used to the convenience and pace that electronic scoring represents.
"Having a tool like the Wild Bull will help to get these players throwing steel-tip darts."
The Wild Bulls machines will be set up in a separate area in the main arena inside the Mandalay Bay complex throughout next week's tournament.
"In addition to the Blind Draws being run at this event we have also created a separate area for 'electronic steel darting' where our guests can join friends in friendly matches and experience the Wild Bull's "Feel of Steel" automatic scoring machine.
"This is a fine way of introducing players to the game and to provide added entertainment for our PartyPoker.net Las Vegas Desert Classic attendees."
