Bates Wins Le Skratch Event

BARRIE BATES won the 2006 Le Skratch Sarantos Restinas Memorial Darts Tournament in Montreal on Sunday, defeating Terry Jenkins in the final.

The Welshman picked up his second title of the year with the victory, winning $5,000.

Jenkins was one of a number of the PDC's top 16 to travel to the event ahead of next weekend's World Series of Darts in Connecticut.

Dennis Priestley overcame world number 11 Denis Ovens on his way to the semi-finals of the tournament - which he won 12 months ago.

Gerry Convery was the furthest Canadian, also reaching the last four before going down 3-1 to Bates.

World Series of Darts Qualifier Isen Veljic warmed up for his shot at $1 million in Connecticut this weekend by reaching the last 16.

John Part bowed out to Bill Davis at the same stage, while Wes Newton reached the quarter-finals before going down to Jenkins.

Darin Young came out on top in his clash with leading American John Kuczynski in the last 32.
