QUALIFIERS Gary Welding and Wayne Jones are the first two players to move into the quarter-finals of the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship.
The duo came through from over 160 players to enter the PDPA qualifiers in Hull at the start of December, but will be facing each other on Friday night for a place in the semi-finals.
Welding ended American John Kuczynski's dream debut at the Circus Tavern with a 4-2 win to continue his magical tournament.
Jones then saw off fellow qualifier Steve Alker 4-1 to book his place in the last eight.
"I'm absolutely delighted," said Jones. "I'm good friends with Gary and hopefully it will be a great game.
"I'm confident and know that if I throw like I can do I will take some beating."
Wayne Mardle and John Part were among the other winners on day seven of the tournament, as the final five second round games were played.
Mardle recovered from losing the opening set against Belgian Erik Clarys to win 4-1, while 2003 World Champion Part edged out Chris Mason 4-3 in a thriller.
Alan Warriner-Little produced his best display in over a year to defeat Canada's Gerry Convery 4-0, while Andy Smith saw off American Ray Carver 4-3.
The opening game of the day saw qualifier Andrew Hamilton set up a meeting with defending champion and fellow Stoke star Phil Taylor by knocking out Terry Jenkins 4-1.
Highlights are now available in DartsTV, along with a special package looking back on the upsets so far in the tournament and audio interviews with key players.
