ADRIAN LEWIS wrote his name into the history books once again with the eighth nine-dart finish in Betway Premier League history in Liverpool on Thursday.
The Stoke star landed a perfect leg against Raymond van Barneveld as he claimed a memorable win at the Echo Arena - hitting his second nine-darter in the event.
Lewis had hit the most recent Premier League nine-darter against James Wade in Belfast in 2016 - almost exactly a year to the day before his achievement in Liverpool.
The nine-darter ensured his status amongst the sport's greats, joining Phil Taylor (three) and Raymond van Barneveld (two) in recording multiple nine-darters in the Premier League, with Simon Whitlock the other player to achieve perfection.
Thursday's perfect leg was also Lewis' fifth televised nine-dart finish and his third against Van Barneveld, having previously hit perfect legs when facing the Dutchman in the 2011 European Championship and 2015 World Championship.
The 32-year-old's other televised nine-darter came against Gary Anderson in the opening set of the 2011 World Championship final as he went on to take glory at Alexandra Palace for the first time.
Van Barneveld and Michael van Gerwen have also each landed five televised nine-darters - although the trio remain six short of Taylor's amazing tally of 11.
