DAVE CHISNALL celebrated the first televised nine-darter of his career at the SINGHA Beer Grand Slam of Darts on Sunday night.
The Premier League star, last year's Grand Slam of Darts runner-up, achieved perfection in the third leg of his Group D clash with Peter Wright at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall.
Chisnall emulated the achievements of James Wade in 2008 and Kim Huybrechts last year with his brilliant nine-darter, hitting two 180s before finishing 141 on double 12.
The achievement puts Chisnall in line to scoop a £30,000 bonus - should no other player land a nine-darter in the remainder of this week's event to claim a share of the prize - and secured a special slice of history for the St Helens ace.
"That was one of my best moments," said Chisnall afterwards. "It's good for me and I'm very, very happy.
"It's always been there but sometimes I get snatchy on the double. I've done four or five on the floor, but it's so nice [to do it on TV].
"I was playing well in the practice room and Peter said to me 'let's both hit a nine-darter'. I did, and I thought he was going to do one as well."
Chisnall's 5-2 win over Wright, which saw him average over 109, secured his place in the second round of the Grand Slam of Darts with a game to spare in Group D, eliminating Lakeside Champion Scott Mitchell in the process.
