MENSUR SULJOVIC'S success in the Unibet Champions League of Darts has secured his place in November's bwin Grand Slam of Darts as the latest qualifier for the Wolves Civic event.
The Austrian ace claimed his maiden TV title in Cardiff on Sunday, defeating Gary Anderson to secure the Champions League trophy.
Suljovic's triumph sees him become the 12th pre-qualified player for November's Grand Slam of Darts from the finalists of TV tournaments over a 12-month period.
A maximum of 16 players can qualify from TV tournaments, with a reserve list based on the winners European Tour events, Players Championship tournaments and UK Open Qualifiers.
TV event winners alongside Suljovic including reigning Grand Slam of Darts champion Michael van Gerwen, World Matchplay champion Phil Taylor, UK Open champion Peter Wright, World Cup winner Raymond van Barneveld and 2016 World Youth Champion Corey Cadby.
TV finalists Gary Anderson, James Wade, Berry van Peer, Gerwyn Price, Dave Chisnall and Mark Webster currently occupy qualifying places, with the World Grand Prix, European Championship and World Series of Darts Finals still offering a chance for players to secure a Grand Slam spot.
Should the list of qualifiers from TV events not reach 16 players, Michael Smith is in line to qualify by virtue of his Gibraltar Darts Trophy win in Gibraltar, with Adrian Lewis, Daryl Gurney and Simon Whitlock at present in line to qualify as Players Championship winners.
A further eight players will come through the PDC Tour Card Holders' Qualifier on Monday November 6, while BDO representatives Glen Durrant, Danny Noppert and Peter Machin will be joined by the top five ranked players at September 30.
The bwin Grand Slam of Darts will be held from November 11-19 at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall, live on Sky Sports. For tickets, call the Wolves Civic Box Office at 0870 320 7000 or book online via www.theticketfactory.com/PDC.
