MICHAEL VAN GERWEN is the pre-tournament favourite as he bids to win a fourth successive title at the Ladbrokes Players Championship Finals this weekend.
Dutch star Van Gerwen, the world number one, has been victorious at the Butlin's Minehead Resort in the Players Championship Finals for the past three years.
He is bidding to extend that winning streak in this weekend's ITV4-televised event, where he meets Matthew Edgar in round one on Friday.
Van Gerwen is the 11/10 pre-tournament favourite with new title sponsors Ladbrokes.
2014 winner Gary Anderson, last week's Grand Slam of Darts runner-up, is the 7/2 second favourite, with world number two Peter Wright an 8/1 chance.
James Wade, the European Championship and World Series of Darts Finals winner, is 14/1, while World Champion Rob Cross is joined at 25/1 by Daryl Gurney, Michael Smith and two-time runner-up Adrian Lewis.
Grand Slam champion Gerwyn Price is a 33/1 chance alongside Dave Chisnall, the 2016 finalist, while top seed Ian White is 40/1 as he bids to claim his maiden TV title to follow up his 2018 success on the Players Championship circuit.
