Vanquis has announced its sponsorship of Bullseye Maths, the pioneering initiative developed by the Professional Darts Corporation to enhance numeracy skills in a fun and engaging way.
Bullseye Maths - making numeracy fun and accessible
Bullseye Maths is designed to help Key Stage 2 students and individuals of all ages improve their maths skills through darts-based activities, including the interactive Mathlete Game and downloadable worksheets, alongside in-school sessions.
By using darts as a learning tool, participants engage in arithmetic exercises that strengthen their ability to add, subtract, and multiply in real-time, fostering confidence in numerical problem-solving.
Professional darts players like Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Gary Anderson, Michael Smith, and Joe Cullen have all spoken about how improving their numeracy skills through darts has had a positive impact on their careers and daily lives.
Through this initiative, students and adults alike can experience the benefits of maths in an enjoyable and practical setting.
As part of the sponsorship, Vanquis and Bullseye Maths will host events in schools across the UK around some of the PDC's biggest televised tournaments, including the Premier League, World Matchplay and World Championship.
These events will feature professional players, Key Stage 2 schoolchildren, and engaging numeracy challenges, helping to bridge the gap between education and entertainment.
Vanquis' support of Bullseye Maths began on Wednesday when Premier League star Stephen Bunting joined pupils from St Anthony of Padua and Roscoe Primary schools for a special session at Liverpool FC's Anfield Stadium, which was organised in conjunction with the LFC Foundation.
National Numeracy
Vanquis is also a proud supporter of National Numeracy and the upcoming National Numeracy Day on May 21 2025 - the UK's only campaign dedicated to improving everyday maths skills.
This year’s National Numeracy Day theme, Money, aligns closely with Vanquis' purpose and new research from National Numeracy reveals that 32% of UK adults want to improve their numeracy to better manage their finances, with even higher demand among parents of young children and students.
Vanquis is dedicated to addressing this gap by supporting numeracy initiatives that empower individuals to improve their money management skills and take control of their financial futures.
PDC Chief Executive Matt Porter said: "Darts is a sport built on numeracy, and Bullseye Maths has already had a significant impact in encouraging people to engage with maths in a fun and interactive way.
"Vanquis' support will help us expand the programme, bringing even more opportunities for young people and adults to improve their confidence with numbers while enjoying the sport."
Sam Sims, Chief Executive of National Numeracy, commented: "Strong numeracy skills are essential for managing money, making financial decisions, and improving overall confidence.
"With Vanquis' support, we're reaching more people than ever before through our programmes for schools, families and adults.
"And through campaigns like National Numeracy Day, we are helping individuals develop the skills they need for a brighter financial future."
Tim Schwarz, Head of Brand at Vanquis, said: "At Vanquis, we know that being confident with numbers makes a huge difference in everyday life - whether it's managing money, planning for the future, or just feeling in control.
"That's why we're proud supporters of National Numeracy and excited to sponsor Bullseye Maths through our partnership with the PDC.
"By combining maths with the excitement of darts, we want to make making learning maths fun and engaging. It's all about giving people the skills and confidence they need to take charge of their finances and build a better future."
