Ben Robb secured top spot on the final DartPlayers New Zealand Order of Merit after clinching his fifth title of the campaign in Dunedin last weekend.
Robb and Haupai Puha shared the spoils in the last DPNZ ProTour double-header of the season, which took place at the Metro Club from October 15-16.
Puha celebrated his first DPNZ title of 2022 in Event Seven, edging out NZ Darts Masters quarter-finalist Kayden Milne 7-6 in a dramatic final on Saturday.
Former World Cup of Darts quarter-finalist Puha fired in three 180s and landed an 11-darter to topple emerging star Milne, breaking throw in the decider to triumph with an 85 average.
Puha - who defeated Jonny Clayton at August’s Queensland Darts Masters – had earlier denied Nevin Filimoeatu in a last-leg decider, which he followed up with a 4-2 win over David Lamb.
The 37-year-old then breezed past Darren Herewini 5-1 in the quarter-finals, before dispatching Jimmy Samuels 6-2 to seal his spot in Saturday’s showpiece.
Puha reached back-to-back finals after impressing once again in Event Eight, although it was Robb who returned to winning ways to round-off the DPNZ ProTour season in style.
The 33-year-old posted two maximums and converted a spectacular 144 checkout en route to a comprehensive 7-1 victory over Puha, averaging 85 to extend his lead at the top of the Order of Merit.
Robb, who made his World Cup of Darts debut in June, followed up a whitewash win over Kamm Kawau by easing past Milne and Samuels before lifting his fifth ProTour crown of the year.
Robb and Puha then locked horns in the final of Monday’s DPNZ World Championship qualifier, with Robb running out a convincing 8-4 winner to confirm his place at the 2022/23 Cazoo World Darts Championship in December.
