Ilagan takes centre stage on PDC Asian Tour in Singapore

Lourence Ilagan (PDC)

Lourence Ilagan claimed a record-extending 11th title on the PDC Asian Tour last weekend, as he shared victories with Man Lok Leung and his compatriot Paolo Nebrida.

The year's sixth weekend of PDC Asian Tour action took place from August 11-12, as three of the biggest names in Asian darts added to their title hauls in Singapore.

Ilagan took centre stage in last weekend's treble-header, featuring in all three finals and clinching his second title of 2024 in Saturday's Event 17.

The 46-year-old swept aside Asian Tour Order of Merit leader Alexis Toylo in the Event 17 showpiece, after winning through deciding-leg ties against Japanese duo Yoshihisa Baba and Motomu Sakai in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively.

Ilagan was beaten by Leung in the Event 16 decider earlier in the day, as Hong Kong's premier player followed up his Event 15 triumph in June by celebrating back-to-back Asian Tour titles.

The 25-year-old had edged out his World Cup partner Lok Yin Lee in his opener, before recovering from 3-2 down to deny Ryan Khristoffer Condat in another last-leg shoot-out.

Leung then eased past Keita Ono and Ryusei Azemoto to set up a semi-final showdown against Singapore's darting icon Paul Lim, where he fired in a 12-darter to close out a 5-4 victory before sinking Ilagan.

Former PDC Asian Championship runner-up Nebrida then rounded off the weekend with Event 18 success, defying a 96 average from his Filipino counterpart Ilagan to secure his fourth Asian Tour title of the season.

Nebrida was beaten 4-2 by Ilagan in the Event 16 quarter-finals, although he avenged that result to cement second spot on the Asian Tour Order of Merit, with just six events remaining in 2024.

The 29-year-old recorded 4-1 wins against Alfie Ramos Ferrer, Lihao Wen, Condat and Reynaldo Rivera to advance to the semi-finals, where he came out on top in a decider against Sandro Sosing, who had averaged 102 in the last 32.

The final weekend of the 2024 PDC Asian Tour will be held in Qingdao, China from October 4-6, and live coverage of Events 19-24 will be broadcast live on PDCTV from the last 16 onwards.

The third staging of the PDC Asian Championship will then take place in Manila from October 17-20, as the biggest names in Asian darts compete for the coveted title in the Philippines.
