CDC wins for Gates, Long & Spellman in Niagara Falls

Alex Spellman (Ed Mulholland, PDC)

Leonard Gates, Jim Long and Alex Spellman claimed a title apiece as the 2024 Championship Darts Corporation season continued at Niagara Falls.

Gates won his third title of 2024 in Event Nine, claiming a 7-4 win over Adam Sevada in the final.

Gates' closest contest came in the last 32 as he was taken to a decider by Stephen Kirkorian, while he overcame Jeff McDonald, Keith Way, Nick Linberg and Canada's Long during the event.

Long, the Event Six winner, claimed a second 2024 success in Event Ten, seeing off fellow Canadian Jacob Taylor 7-3 in the decider - having won the game's opening six legs without reply.

He had seen off former UK Open finalist Gary Mawson 7-4 in the semi-finals, a defeated Chris Caldwell, James Solek, Jeff Springer and Jake McMillan on his way to the title.

Spellman, meanwhile, completed the weekend at Sheraton Niagara Falls with his first triumph the year, coming from 3-2 down to defeat Stowe Buntz - a two-time winner so far in 2024 - 7-4 in their final.

Spellman whitewashed both Jack Robinson and Steve Warnock in the event, and saw off Taylor and Sevada in the latter stages.

The CDC Championship Darts Circuit concludes from September 20-22 in Brownsburg, ahead of the CC+DC Continental Cup in Philadelphia on October 18-19.
