An additional five players have confirmed their qualification for September's PDC Asian Championship in Fukuoka, following the latest set of regional qualifiers last weekend.
The inaugural staging of the landmark event will see the leading players from Asia battling it out for the $15,000 top prize and one of four spots in the Cazoo World Darts Championship from September 22-25.
The 48-player main event on September 24-25 will feature the eight players who represented Japan, Philippines, Singapore and Hong Kong at this year’s Cazoo World Cup of Darts.
Six-time World Championship participant Lourence Ilagan and Singapore icon Paul Lim will headline next month’s extravaganza, while eight further qualifiers were also confirmed earlier this month.
Man-Lok Leung, who represented Hong Kong at the 2021 World Cup of Darts, stormed through last weekend’s Hong Kong qualifier, following up a whitewash win over Royden Lam with victory over Eason Wong to seal his spot in Fukuoka.
Zhiwei Lin, part of the nine-player PDC China Premier League line-up, came through the China Mainland qualifier, denying Anjie Feng in a last-leg shoot-out.
Hussain Nader Abdulla Ali relinquished just two legs to prevail in the UAE event, while Syed Mohd Abdul Mannan and Kam-Weng Cheng won their respective qualifiers in India and Macau.
The Japanese regional qualifier is yet to take place, but 21 players have now confirmed their spots in September’s showpiece.
The main event will be preceded by two days of Asian Series qualifiers, with four qualifying events split across September 22-23.
The last four players from each qualifier will secure a place in the 48-player field, alongside a further 10 players from the Asian Series Order of Merit.
The main event begins with a round-robin stage on Saturday September 24, with the players split into 16 groups of three. The round-robin stage will be played across eight boards, including one streamed board.
Each group winner will then progress to compete in the last 16 later that day, with Sunday September 25 featuring the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final in a blockbuster finale.
The PDC Asian Championship will be streamed through PDCTV for all subscribers worldwide, while action from the qualifiers will also be streamed through Felix Darts’ YouTube channel across Asia.
