Bialecki back to winning ways on Winmau Development Tour

Sebastian Bialecki (Simon O'Connor/PDC)

Sebastian Bialecki overcame Dutchman Levy Frauenfelder to clinch his fifth Winmau Development Tour title in Wigan on Sunday.

Bialecki ran out a narrow 5-4 winner in Sunday's Event 15 showpiece, coming through a 229-player field at the Robin Park Tennis Centre to round off the third Development Tour weekend of 2024.

The former UK Open quarter-finalist breezed through to the last 16 for the loss of just two legs, dispatching James Buckby, Jonas Stagg and Nathan Care, before whitewashing Leighton Bennett to maintain his charge.

The 20-year-old later averaged 96 in his comeback win over former JDC World Champion Bradly Roes, while a hard-fought 5-3 win against Czech number one Adam Gawlas sealed his spot in the semi-finals.

Bialecki launched another comeback in his deciding-leg victory against Tavis Dudeney in the last four, reeling off three straight legs in 15, 16 and 14 darts to overturn a 4-2 deficit.

The talented Pole was then forced to fend off a valiant fightback from Frauenfelder to prevail in a compelling final, firing in a 14-dart hold in the decider to mark his return to the winner's circle.

Frauenfelder had kicked off his campaign with a deciding-leg victory against Niclas Wierling, which he followed with wins against Cayden Smith, Bence Horvath and Event 14 runner-up Marvin van Velzen.

The 23-year-old continued his breakthrough run by seeing off Lewis Bell and Jannis Barkhausen, and he also fought back from 4-2 adrift in his semi-final tussle against Dominik Gruellich to advance to his maiden Development Tour final.

Bialecki's success lifts him up to sixth position on the Development Tour Order of Merit, with Frauenfelder catapulting himself into the top 20.

The top two players from the 2024 Development Tour Order of Merit will win a PDC Tour Card for 2025-26 and a place in the 2024/25 Paddy Power World Darts Championship.

The 2024 Winmau Development Tour continues next month, as Events 16-20 take place at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes from July 26-28.
