Stuart Coburn claimed back-to-back Dartplayers Australia ProTour titles at the weekend, as the DPA season continued in Western Australia.
The Italian Club in Bunbury played host to Events 7-9 from April 4-6, as James Bailey followed up Coburn's brace of victories with his first title of the campaign.
Joe Comito featured in all three finals across the weekend, and although he was unable to add to his title haul, his consistency saw him extend his lead at the top of the DPA Order of Merit.
Coburn edged out Comito in a last-leg shoot-out to triumph in Event Seven, surviving multiple match darts in the decider to secure his first DPA title since June 2024.
The 32-year-old averaged 93 in his semi-final win against David Platt, which was preceded by wins over Corey Collins, Brenton Lloyd and Koha Kokiri.
History repeated itself in Event Eight, as Coburn overturned a 5-3 deficit to deny Comito and clinch his fifth DPA ProTour crown.
Coburn also won through deciding-leg ties against Platt and Kevin Thomas, while overcoming Lee Chapman and Stephen Ireland on his way to winning back-to-back titles in Bunbury.
Australian veteran Bailey then rounded off the weekend’s action with Event Nine success on Sunday, sealed with a deciding-set victory over Comito.
The 55-year-old kicked off his campaign with a straight-sets win over Gary Stevens, before accounting for Sam Ballinger, Jordan Mathers and Bill Aitken en route to glory.
However, Comito claimed the Kyle Anderson Trophy – awarded to the best performing player across the weekend – as he established a 32-point lead over Bailey on the DPA Order of Merit.
The second DPA Qualifier for the NZ Darts Masters also took place in Bunbury last weekend, with former PDC Tour Card Holder Gordon Mathers coming out on top in Friday’s event.
Mathers backed up wins over Mal Cuming and Bailey Marsh with a 6-2 success against Ireland in the final, as he reduced Brandon Weening’s lead in the race for World Series of Darts qualification.
The 2025 DPA season continues in June, as Events 10-12 take place in Albury, alongside the third DPA NZ Darts Masters Qualifier.
