MARTIN SCHINDLER and Luke Humphries shared the victories in Sunday's PDC Unicorn Development Tour double-header at the Barnsley Metrodome to complete the year's fourth weekend of action.
Emerging star Schindler - a World Cup quarter-finalist for Germany this year - won his first Development Tour title by defeating Justin van Tergouw to win Event 15 in Barnsley on Sunday.
The 21-year-old won through to his first Development Tour final, surpassing his run to the Event Two semi-finals earlier in 2017 with some fine form in Sunday's opening event.
After seeing off Austria's Rowby-John Rodriguez 4-2 in his opening game, Schindler then defeated Bradley Brooks, Sam Carter, Callum Goffin and Kenny Neyens to reach the last eight.
There, he defeated Ireland's Steve Lennon 5-2 before repeating the scoreline against fellow German Nico Ziemann in the semi-finals, and he also lost just two legs as he took victory in the final against Van Tergouw.
Van Tergouw has shown his promise over the last 12 months, and reached two semi-finals on the Development Tour weekend in Germany in May before making his European Tour debut a fortnight ago in the Dutch Darts Masters.
The 17-year-old defeated Justin Bradshaw and Reece Kiley before overcoming Josh McCarthy in a deciding leg, going on to pick up a pair of 4-1 wins against Rob Hewson and Callum Loose as he reached the quarter-finals.
There, he saw off Ronnie Roberts 5-3 before dropping just two legs against Harry Ward in the semi-finals, only to see Schindler deny him a first Development Tour title.
Humphries, meanwhile, continued his fantastic 2017 by claiming a fifth Development Tour title, overcoming Ryan Meikle 5-1 in the final as he followed up an earlier quarter-final by taking the £2,000 top prize.
He lost just four legs in his opening four matches as he overcame Shane Reidy, Dylan Powell, Josh Payne and Thomas King, before seeing off Dan Read 5-2 in the quarter-finals and Dimitri Van den Bergh 5-3 at the semi-final stage.
Suffolk's Meikle was aiming to win his second Development Tour title of the year, having previously won Event Three in February.
The left-hander enjoyed wins over Jack Seymour, Tom Lonsdale, Joshua Church, Craig Reeves, Kevin De Vries, Harry Ward and Steve Lennon as he reached the final, only to be denied by Humphries.
Lennon's semi-final appearance followed an earlier quarter-final in Event 15, with Ward following up a run to the last four earlier in the day by reaching the last eight in Event 16.
The final PDC Unicorn Development Tour weekend will be held on November 4-5 at the Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan, and will be followed on Monday November 6 by the PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship's early rounds.
