The PDC's Bullseye Maths schools programme returned with a bumper double session ahead of the Cazoo Premier League night in Nottingham.
Bullseye Maths was introduced by the PDC in 2022, in conjunction with Nottingham College's Room 180 Academy and supported by numeracy charity Maths On Toast, as a fun and inclusive way of boosting numeracy skills.
Alongside an online portal at pdc.tv/maths which includes an interactive Mathlete game, provided by GoDartsPro, and downloadable worksheets, top stars took part in visits to schools across England last year.
The 2023 Bullseye Maths programme began on Wednesday as new PDC professional Adam Warner joined Room 180 Academy staff in a session at Ilkeston's Cotmanhay Junior School.
That was followed on Thursday by a further session as pupils from Cotmanhay were joined by students from Hempshill Hall Primary School, Cloudside Academy and Jubilee L.E.A.D Academy on stage at the Motorpoint Arena for a Bullseye Maths competition ahead of the Premier League night in Nottingham.
Cotmanhay were the eventual winners of the day's activity and were presented with the "Room 180 Trophy" by PDC Master of Ceremonies John McDonald.
"This was a great way to begin the 2023 Bullseye Maths activities with two days of sessions in Nottingham, and it was another great experience for the pupils from all the schools," said Room 180 Academy's Gary Horsley, who leads the sessions.
"For the Cotmanhay pupils to see a professional player like Adam Warner close up was brilliant for them and he was excellent in helping to explain the importance of maths in both darts and life.
"For four schools to then get the chance to experience the Premier League at the Motorpoint Arena was fantastic for them and you could see the enthusiasm from them all as well as how engaged they were with Bullseye Maths."
Cotmanhay School Year 4 teacher Dave Banks said: "Our children at Cotmanhay had such an amazing experience that they will remember for a long time.
"The Bullseye Maths event in-school ran smoothly and was clear what was involved and expected.
"On Thursday, the children simply loved the occasion and the opportunity to travel into Nottingham and experience such an amazing venue, and all of the schools interacted brilliantly."
Further Bullseye Maths sessions will be held throughout 2023, and additional information can be seen at this link.
